Whether you’re following the Leafs to Buffalo for a weekend, exploring Europe or making like a Canadian goose and flying south for the winter, we have a travel insurance package for you!
Even if you’re only leaving the country for a day buying out-of-country medical coverage is essential to cover you if you get sick or injured. Medical costs outside of Canada are extremely high and could leave you with a serious financial hangover when your trip is done. Buying coverage is simple through our website – multiple quotes and the ability to buy online in a matter of minutes. Travel Insurance provides peace of mind, so you can enjoy your trip, worry-free.
Things to consider when choosing travel insurance:
- Where you’re going and what you’ll be doing there?
- How much your trip would cost if you needed to cancel?
- The value of what you’re taking with you?
- The limits on your out of province or out of country health care on your employee benefits package or personal health plan?
Renting a car on vacation?
In Canada and the United States: If you already have car insurance and are renting a car you can add coverage to your policy that insurance companies call “Legal Liability for Damage to Non-Owned Automobiles”. This coverage is typically less than $35 per year, significantly less than what you will pay at the rental counter.
Renting Abroad: If you’re renting abroad your car insurance will not cover you. Most high-end credit cards will provide you with protection but there are important exclusions including the size and value of the vehicle and where it is being driven. Check with your credit card issuer to see if you’re covered. If not, you should search for rental car companies that include insurance coverage (more likely with a local company). Otherwise, you will need to purchase insurance at the counter in order to be covered.
